# Run-time error – An error occurred in the secure channel support

You receive the following error when trying to activate your RealData software"

*Run-time error 2147012739*
 *An error occurred in the secure channel support*

We have seen this only for users running Windows 7 but it may affect other Windows operating systems.

You may also see this error:
 *Certificate error*
 *The application experienced an internal error loading the SSL libraries.*

### Solution:

There is one possible fix which is to run Windows Update and look for Recommended Update KB3140245 titled "Update to enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 as default secure protocols in WinHTTP in Windows" and install it. Microsoft is saying this will help many but not all users.
