Capital Gains Rules Extended to 2010, RealData Software Updated
Investors can exhale. Congress has passed and the President
has signed the Tax Increase Prevention And Reconciliation Act of 2005. And
yes, we know it's 2006, but we're not about to quibble.
The new law extends the current long-term capital gains tax rates through the end of
2010. The maximum rate of 15% was slated to expire at the end of 2008 and revert to
the previous 20% rate. Less is better.
We have updated our tax-sensitive programs, Real Estate Investment Analysis,
Standard and Lite editions, to incorporate this change. If you're a registered user
of either program, we invite you to contact us for an update at http://realdata.com/helpdesk or 203-255-1445. There is no charge to download these new builds.
New Article -- Automated Valuations Online
For most Americans, their home is their most valuable asset. So, it's no wonder
that just about everyone who owns a home or is looking to buy one would like to
know how much that home is worth. In the good old days (> 6 months ago) you would
probably call an agent and ask him or her to do a comparative market analysis (CMA),
or you would hire an appraiser. Now, more and more websites are offering automated
valuations online. Can you really find out what a home is worth with the click of a
mouse? We tried several of these systems and we'll tell you what we think. Just go
to the Learn section of realdata.com for our latest article.
