After installing software or an update to your software, you get a small dialog box which says “Your trial use of the software has expired.” The program then closes; you cannot open the software.
This error message can occur for several reasons. Often, reinstalling the software will solve the problem.
Important Note! You should not see this error message if you are using a final release of the software from March 2026 or later. Remember that even if you have installed a final release, you may still have files created with earlier releases on your computer. You can easily update REIA Pro or Personal Financial Statement files using our Import feature. Search the knowledge base for “import” for more information.
Other considerations:
- This problem may occur if you are trying to access files that are located on a remote server. Try moving the files to your computer.
- This problem may occur if you are logged in as Administrator. In such case, we recommend that you create a normal user account and install/activate the software as the user.
- For Windows, it may mean that your software has a missing, incomplete or corrupted entry in the software registry. Typically, reinstalling will fix this.
